Insurance information
Our team will help you understand how insurance may apply to your oral surgery care, what information we need from you, and how billing works before treatment begins.
01
Dental insurance billing
We help bill for most dental insurance plans. Please send your dental insurance information before your visit so we can help verify benefits and prepare an estimate.
02
Medical insurance status
Bluebird Oral Surgery is out of network with medical insurance plans. When medical billing may apply, our team can still help submit claims and guide you through the process. In some cases, a medical out-of-network exception may be granted if there are no other doctors providing a particular service in our area.
03
CareCredit financing
CareCredit is available for qualifying patients, including 12 months financing. We can help you understand how to use CareCredit for eligible treatment costs.
04
Estimates and final benefits
Insurance estimates are not a guarantee of payment. Final coverage is determined by your insurance carrier after claims are processed, and any remaining balance is the patient’s responsibility.
Patient Billing & Payment FAQ
What to expect with upfront payment and insurance billing
These answers explain why payment is collected at the time of service, how insurance claims are handled afterward, and how refunds work when insurance pays more than expected.
Q
Why do you collect the full cost of treatment at the time of service?
Insurance coverage can be unpredictable and sometimes difficult to verify in real time. Collecting the full amount upfront helps make billing smoother, avoid delays, and prevent unexpected bills weeks later.
Q
Do you still bill my insurance?
Yes. We will bill your insurance on your behalf after your visit. Some plans, such as GEHA, Kaiser, and a few others, may require patients to submit claims directly. If that applies to your plan, our team will let you know.
Q
What happens if I overpay?
If you paid more than your responsibility, we will refund the difference once your insurance company processes the claim and payment is received. Refunds are issued back to the original payment method, or by check if needed.
Q
Does this mean I’m paying more overall?
No. The total amount you owe does not change. The difference is when payment is collected. Paying upfront helps avoid surprise bills later, and we return any overpayment once insurance processing is complete.
Q
How fast will I get my refund?
Refunds are typically processed promptly after we receive payment and final claim information from your insurance company. Timing can vary depending on how quickly the insurance carrier processes the claim.
Q
Why is this better for me?
This approach helps reduce surprise bills weeks later, supports faster and more accurate processing, and gives peace of mind that any overpayment will be returned promptly.
